So small and so fast I finally managed a clear shot of the waxeye  sipping at the flax flowers. I am trying to capture some of the wonderful rowdy bird life that wakes me each morning, a delight in its cacophony, it’s somehow soothing and familiar.

Wildflowers

Walking around the city with its construction and gravel and orange cones …every now and then some wild flowers have claimed a vacant site and wave unexpected color and beauty  and hope …

…and brave geraniums bursting through a dilapidated fence

Sculpture on the Peninsula

Lovely day out with my mum and friends visiting a sculpture show that is hosted on an old farm on Banks Peninsula near Charteris Bay.  The trees and grass with  their bright green spring colors made the perfect setting and I had the best strawberry lammington in my whole life ….mmm fresh cream with passionfruit couli filling a delicious moist cake dipped in strawberry sauce and coated in coconut… classic kiwi treat.

Saturday in the park, walking in the sunshine enjoying the birds and butterflies, the lovely late spring flowers and trees in blossom. Chestnut, lilac, rhododendron and azaleas and more than a few I have no idea what they are but they smell wonderful – like this one  … Yes it’s a tree and delightful
