The Journey begins in Seattle and will end some 3500 miles later in Cape Coral Florida. “Anything is possible if you have got enough nerve” J K Rowling – my inspiration for this journey. Fini and I, ( Fini is my car) will hit the road this morning with coffee from my favorite Cafe Vita and a car full of excitement and anticipation. This is a blow out the cobwebs and have an adventure journey with no thoughts other than to see how it unfolds………………………………………………………IMG_2174IMG_2254

Clouds over the lake

•June 30, 2013 • 1 Comment

The sky, endlessly fascinating, especially over water. I have taken so many shots of the sky I am starting to look at them again and show some of my favorites – I took these over Lake Washington in May. The mood of the lake is always changing, from one moment to the next a new sky dresses the lake in fluffy white against the perfect blue sky, solid mist blanketing the shore, sparkling sunshine reflecting on the water or pink and orange of the sunset. Each side of the lake or time of day it will be different and just as fascinating as the first day you see it. I have been so lucky to spend time near this amazing lake and it will always pull me back. I wonder what stories it could tell.

Florida, wonderful and relaxing, soft sandy beaches and crystal waters, Pelicans and Dolphins and great friends, what more could a girl want. Well … actually… I do have a list…. maybe a job…. income… a few small requests…. it has been quite a journey and I would never have predicted that this is where I would be, its been a long time since my first stop here in 1984.  For now I am loving being here and I am proud of my very first suntan, who knew pollution had an upside. I am almost a Floridian already 🙂 These are all shots I  have taken just on my iphone with instagram.

Winking turtles

•May 25, 2013 • Leave a Comment

The sun came out, that may sound commonplace until your realize I am talking about Seattle, so let me repeat…. The sun came out….. It has been the most amazing May weather and with the sun a clutch of turtles have made their appearance on the lake just outside my window. I was looking down and I swear I saw a turtle winking back at me. I ran downstairs and sure enough sitting on a log was what I have now discovered is a Red Slider. Not just one red slider but logs full of them. I watch them out the window now, as soon as the sun comes out there they are, but more interesting are the kids and Boeing employees that wade thought the landscaping to peer through the rail sat them. They are the stars of the cove, where the logs and the trash back up against the jetty, maneuvering in the mud and sunning themselves on the logs.P1040329P1040325

Red

Sometimes someone comes into your life that you know even before you meet them that they will change everything. That has certainly been the case with Red, she is a force and a personality and she is the most wonderful adorable and amazing person. Am so lucky to be her honorary auntie, I hope she is always a part of my life and I get to watch her grow.

On the road again

…. well its time for the kiwi to take flight again, for an old bird without wings I do get around. The last week has been Las Vegas at ISC West trade show and quite a week it was. The detail may be for later snippets and I didn’t get any photos – and it made me decide to start writing without always having photos as waiting for a good photo has slowed me down from…..well actually lots of things have slowed me down and now its time for the journey to continue….

Today I left Las Vegas and my job and although I have a few weeks left to work essentially I am back to being a vagabond. First stop Chicago (for work) and then Fort Myers( for fun) I have become intimately familiar with the “L” in Chicago and it is efficient if slow to get around. Flying in to Midway and a hotel at O’Hare was a 2 hour trip with three bags which necessitated the use of the elevators. If you have never needed to use an elevator at a railway station, may I humbly suggest you never do. To say they smelled ripe would be an understatement but to describe the smell in more detail would require me to relive the experience and let me tell you, it is not one to repeat.
