Visited a bird sanctuary in Rotorua. They are focused on breeding and rehabilitating our native birds of prey. The Karearea or New Zealand Falcon is under threat from human development and introduced predators with less than 10,000 bird remaining. These stunning birds are our fastest bird and very intelligent. Hisan is only two and not yet in the full adult plumage that includes copper coloured pantaloons.
